Unit 2: Writing Prompt

One of my instructional goals is to increase literacy and writing in math class. I would use the image above as a graded writing prompt, asking the following: List all of the geometric shapes used in the construction of the sand castle shown. Discuss how geometry, particularly the idea of parallelism, affects the construction of buildings such as hotels and skyscrapers.
